Organizations that license commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) software often don't recognize the redundant and compounding costs they are incurring.

In this paper, KPMG recommends two parallel and interrelated workstreams that can help information technology (IT) executives identify software waste and make improvements to guard against recurrence.
