John McGaw is a partner in KPMG Chicago's Advisory Services practice and has more than 18 years of experience delivering risk advisory and audit services.  

John specializes in leading large multidisciplinary engagements where he has lead International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) Conversion, Sarbanes-Oxley, and audit projects in more than 17 countries. He also advises global organizations on leading practices with respect to effectively and efficiently mitigating their organizations' financial reporting, operational, and compliance risks.

As the Midwest IFRS Leader, John coordinates the integrated delivery of IFRS Conversion Services by partners and professionals from KPMG's Audit, Tax, and Advisory practices. Additionally, John has been a featured speaker at international and U.S. IFRS conferences and a contributing author to IFRS articles in a national magazine and other business publications. Most recently, John has been leading an international team responsible for the continued enhancement of the quality assurance elements in KPMG's Global Conversion Methodology.

Prior to his 2002 transfer into KPMG's Advisory practice, John served global corporations in KPMG's external audit practice for 11 years. During this time, John advised SEC registrants on numerous technical accounting, internal control, and operational matters, including revenue recognition, derivative instruments, business combinations and joint ventures, multiple business integrations, impairment analysis, disposition and closure activities, foreign currency and equity transactions.

Representative clients include McDonald's, Sara Lee, Beckman Coulter, Dade Behring, Sidley Austin LLP, YUM! Brands, VANS, and CKE Restaurants.
