Leah Durner

Leah Durner is a principal in the State and Local Tax (SALT) group of the Washington National Tax practice. Currently based in the Washington National Tax office, Ms. Durner has worked in almost every area of SALT throughout her career, including income and franchise tax, sales and use tax, value-added tax and unclaimed property. Her main focus is supporting KPMG's U.S. Indirect Tax practice and assisting clients with transaction and systems planning.

Ms. Durner has spent several years working in more than 15 countries, assisting clients with the integration of tax requirements and third-party tax applications into ERP implementations and also reviewing internal controls for global indirect taxes as part of efforts by companies to comply with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002. She also serves as the KPMG Global Indirect Tax lead for the Energy sector where she coordinates KPMG's global indirect tax resources to serve the firm's energy clients.

Ms. Durner is a frequent author on tax topics, a frequent speaker at COST and TEI conferences and serves as an Adjunct Professor at Georgetown University Law Center. Ms. Durner has a JD degree from Wake Forest University School of Law and a BS degree in Accounting from the University of North Carolina (Charlotte). She is on the Board of Directors of the Streamlined Sales Tax Business Advisory Council.
