Bob Malhotra is currently a Partner in KPMG's Financial Services Practice.  Prior to this, Bob was a Partner in KPMG’s Department of Professional Practice serving as a key member of the Practice Advisory/SEC Group. Bob is one of KPMG’s leaders in the accounting for consolidation and structured finance and has also consulted extensively with clients on compensation, financial instrument, business combination, and SEC reporting issues. Bob has spent time working with clients in the financial services, real estate, and commercial and industrial sectors. Bob has authored numerous articles on emerging accounting and reporting issues affecting SEC registrants and has been a featured contributor to Compliance Week.

Prior to rejoining KPMG in 2009, Bob was the Senior Advisor to the Chief Accountant at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. While at the Commission, Bob was also a Professional Accounting Fellow primarily focused on accounting issues related to financial assets, consolidations, business combinations, revenue recognition, leases, and employee benefits.
 
Before to joining the Commission, Bob spent ten years with KPMG, serving in national office roles and also serving global and large domestic accounts.

Bob earned a Bachelors of Business Administration in Accounting and Finance from the University of Cincinnati. He is a Certified Public Accountant in New York and Ohio and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
