This document is a summary of KPMG's Tenth Annual Global Energy Conference (GEC) held at the InterContinental Hotel in Houston, May 16-17, 2012.

The GEC is KPMG's premier event for energy executives to examine, discuss and debate the industry’s top issues while networking with their peers and continuing their professional education. The past 10 years have been marked by growing attendance and dynamic content, establishing the KPMG Global Energy Conference as a premier event for financial executives in the energy industry.

The conference is recognized for outstanding keynote addresses from global leaders in politics and business. This year was no different, as Gen. Colin Powell, former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and former secretary of state, delivered a keynote address. Gen. Powell has been a leader for more than 50 years, and he shared a number of lessons in leadership that he has learned over a long and distinguished career.

The second day’s keynote speaker was Steve Forbes, chairman and editor in chief of Forbes Media, who offered his economic and political insights on the 2012 U.S. presidential election. More than 1,500 people viewed the addresses, both in person and online, through KPMG’s Global Energy Institute website.
