Under revised U.S. Department of Labor regulations, higher education, health care, and other nonprofit organizations will need to meet new reporting and auditing requirements for their ERISA-covered 403(b) plans. Finance, accounting, and human resource professionals, in particular, must understand how the regulations relate to their plans and have a process in place to capture, document, and assess the plan's operations and financial reporting and to identify and resolve the root cause of any internal control weaknesses, operational errors, or reporting issues.

This Webcast provides action steps to prepare effectively for the change in regulatory requirements. The Webcast addresses changes in the regulatory requirements; enforcement relief provided by DOL Field Assistance Bulletin No. 2009-02; the importance of plan governance in addressing regulatory, fiduciary and reporting requirements; plan compliance matters; the importance of upfront coordination with service providers; financial statement preparation and Form 5500 considerations; and assessing whether operational improvements are necessary.

The Webcast also discusses resources that are publicly available to further inform and support those administering and overseeing your 403(b) employee benefit plan.
~Mon, 15 Feb 2010 18:00:00 GMT~

In an open meeting held on Oct. 26, 2011, the Securities and Exchange Commission voted unanimously to adopt rules requiring reporting by investment advisers to private funds and certain commodity pool operators and commodity trading advisers on form PF.

This mandate represents a new and complex regulatory reporting requirement for SEC registered investment advisers to private funds. As outlined, Form PF would subject private funds advisors to detailed requirements that will significantly expand reporting obligations and ultimately lead to significant business, IT, operational, and data challenges that need to be rapidly addressed by the industry.

KPMG LLP, in cooperation with law firm Schulte Roth & Zabel LLP, has spent considerable time assisting clients implementing Form PF. This webcast summarizes the lessons learned thus far as a result of the Dodd-Frank Act and its broad implications for the alternative investment industry.

Mergers & acquisitions deal flows from developed economies into the Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) region have outnumbered those in both China and India over the last six years. However, as a result of the economic crisis, managing business in the sub-region is becoming more complex. After almost a decade of revenue growth followed by two years of cost cutting, many regional and local companies are grappling with the following issues:

Is the CEE still an emerging or high-growth market?

Are there winners and losers amongst the countries in the sub-region?

Is the competitive landscape changing?

When will the crisis end?

Is the region still attractive to multinationals?

Dr Daniel Thorniley has 25 years experience of working with companies operating within the CEE region. In addition to providing a macroeconomic analysis, he will share insights as to how multinationals are addressing the business challenges in the CEE based on his discussions with representatives of over 100 companies. In addition, the Webcast will include a focus on Poland, which is the largest market in the CEE region. Poland remains an attractive investment location and has maintained economic stability through the financial crisis.
~Tue, 20 Apr 2010 14:30:00 GMT~

The SEC rules related to the conflict minerals provision of the Dodd-Frank Act (Section 1502) impact Japanese companies, regardless of whether or not your company is required to file with the SEC.

This 90-minute audio webcast provides an overview of the Dodd-Frank Act and the SEC’s proposed rules for conflict minerals, an overview of what companies are doing in response to this law and KPMG's recommended actions for Japanese companies to meet the requirements.

Background

Publicly traded companies within in a variety of industries — electronics and communications, aerospace, automotive, industrial machinery, healthcare devices, jewelry, diversified industrials and consumer goods — that use so-called "conflict minerals" (tin, tantalum, tungsten and/or gold-also known as 3TG) in their products or manufacturing processes will face a new disclosure requirement, as a result of a provision within the Dodd-Frank Act.

The provision will impact a wide-range of functions and processes within companies, from the finance and legal teams to the supply chain and procurement process to overall corporate sustainability. Because of the widespread use of these minerals, the SEC anticipates the disclosures would affect as many as 6,000 issuers.

Companies that are not SEC filers may also be impacted; suppliers to SEC companies will need to perform due diligence to be able to answer inquiries from their SEC customers.
~Wed, 08 Feb 2012 19:00:00 GMT~
