This Webcast features an interactive discussion that&nbsp;explores the newly issued guidance on the therapeutic tax credit. this includes eligibility considerations and steps your organization may consider in preparation for the credit application process.</p>
<p>The new section 48D of the Internal Revenue Code is a provision in the healthcare reform legislation, the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (enacted on March 23, 2010), which establishes a 50 percent investment tax credit for qualified investments in qualifying therapeutic discovery projects.</p>
<p>The legislation allocates $1 billion to this program and applies to the two-year period 2009 and 2010. The credit is available only to companies with 250 or fewer employees.</p>

<title><![CDATA[Healthcare Reform: New Investment Tax Credit for Qualified Therapeutic Discovery]]></title>

<description><![CDATA[<p>Provisions in the healthcare reform legislation, the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (enacted on March 23, 2010), established a 50 percent nonrefundable investment tax credit for qualified investments in qualifying therapeutic discovery projects (under new section 48D of the Internal Revenue Code).</p>
<p>The legislation allocated $1 Billion to this program and is applicable to the two-year period 2009 and 2010.&nbsp; The credit is available only to companies with 250 or fewer employees.&nbsp;</p>
<p>The Treasury Secretary, in consultation with the Secretary of Health and Human Services, is to award certifications for qualified investments.&nbsp; It is anticipated that the Treasury will publish the credit application (and related guidance/instructions) on May 22, 2010.</p>
